Types of Dental Extractions We Do
Simple Extractions
Simple extractions are quick and usually painless. They are performed when the tooth is damaged by either decay or injury to the point where it cannot be repaired.
Surgical Extractions
Surgical extractions are performed when the tooth is impacted, which means that all or a portion of the tooth is covered by gum tissue. This can happen when a tooth never fully erupts (as is sometimes the case with wisdom teeth), or it can be the result of an injury that broke the tooth beneath the gum line.
We are able to perform most extractions, both simple and surgical, right here in our Orangeburg dental office. There are some instances when it is most appropriate to refer you to an oral surgeon, however, and we’ll discuss this with you if your situation merits.
Wisdom Teeth Extractions
If your wisdom teeth did not erupt and are still covered by gum tissue or if your wisdom teeth are causing you pain or putting pressure on your other teeth, it may be more appropriate to have them removed.
